Amaras Monastery is an ancient Christian monastic complex located in the Karabakh region. This monastery was built in the 4th century and dates back to the period of Caucasian Albania. The monastery holds great significance in terms of religion, history, and culture. It also houses the tomb of St. Gregory’s grandson, Grigoris. Throughout history, Amaras Monastery has served as a center for religious education and worship. Its current state has changed due to conflicts in the region, and at times it is difficult to visit.
