Araz Water Reservoir of the Water Junction is a large water storage facility located on the Araz River. This reservoir is mainly used for irrigation, electricity generation, and water supply. It was commissioned in 1971 and is situated near Azerbaijan’s Salyan district. It is one of the country’s major hydrological landmarks and plays an important role in supplying water to agricultural lands. The Araz Water Reservoir of the Water Junction also helps to prevent flooding and contributes to the region’s economy.
