  • Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL, Azərbaycan Hava Yolları) is the national airline of Azerbaijan. Its base is in Baku, near Heydar Aliyev International Airport. The company operates under state control through AZCON Holding.

    History

    Founded on April 17, 1992, after the breakup of Aeroflot in the region

    In the 1990s, began operations with Boeing 727 and Tupolev aircraft, launching routes to Istanbul and Dubai

    In 2014, received its first Boeing 787 Dreamliners

    In 2016, launched AZALJet (later rebranded as Buta Airways)
