Azerbaijan Sports Academy is a state higher education institution located in Baku, specializing in the training of physical education teachers, sports managers, and professionals in sports medicine and rehabilitation.
History: The Azerbaijan Sport Academy was originally established in 1930 as the Transcaucasian State Institute of Physical Culture — the first sports-oriented higher education institution in the South Caucasus.
In 1999, it was renamed as the Azerbaijan State Academy of Physical Education and Sport.
In 2023, following structural reforms, the institution was rebranded as Azərbaycan İdman Akademiyası (Azerbaijan Sport Academy).Team: Rector is Fuad Hajiyev, who has been serving in this role since 2015.

The Academy actively pursues its mission to train international-level specialists for the sports industry, including teachers, coaches, managers, and rehabilitation experts.
An Alumni Forum was organized in November 2024, aimed at strengthening ties between students and industry professionals.

On June 18, 2025, the Academy was included in international university rankings for the first time, marking international recognition of its educational programs.
On June 21–22, 2025, an international training and practical seminar was held on working with scientific metrics and ORCID profiles.
Ukraine, June 20, 2025 — the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Turkey visited the Academy, demonstrating international cooperation.
