  • SOCAR  is the state oil company of Azerbaijan

  • SOCAR, in partnership with bp, is working to reduce methane emissions. A project to detect and eliminate leaks is underway at the "Oil Rocks" offshore field. This is part of the global AGMR program.

    Agreements with Masdar have been signed for a solar power plant, an offshore wind farm, and hydrogen production.

    At COP29, SOCAR reached an agreement with China Energy to build a 160 MW solar power plant and a 240 MW wind farm in Jabrayil — in partnership with bp.

    Emissions from offshore platforms are planned to be reduced.

    An agreement with Baker Hughes has been signed for geothermal energy. By 2026, SOCAR will stop flaring associated gas at its refineries.

  • The "Shafag" Solar Power Plant (240 MW) is under construction with bp. Launch expected by the end of 2025.

    A training program for engineers with Schlumberger is ongoing — focused on drilling and geosciences.

    SOCAR’s strategy: fewer emissions, more clean energy, and a goal of net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

    By 2030, new extraction projects are planned — up to an additional 5 million tons of oil and 4.4 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
