Milli Mejlis is the Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan. It consists of one chamber — deputies elected by the citizens of the country. The main role of the Parliament is to pass laws, oversee the government’s work, and protect the interests of the people. Milli Mejlis handles issues of state policy, budget, external and internal security. It discusses and approves important laws, appoints key officials, and ratifies international agreements. The Parliament operates in Baku and has permanent committees and various working groups. Deputies are elected for five years and represent different political parties and regions of the country. Milli Mejlis is the main legislative body of Azerbaijan and works within the framework of the country’s Constitution.
History:
Milli Mejlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan was established in 1995. Its creation is linked to the adoption of the new Constitution of Azerbaijan, which established the Parliament as the main legislative authority.Team:

Extraordinary Parliament Session
On July 14, 2025, the final meeting of the Milli Mejlis extraordinary session took place. Deputies reviewed 13 key legislative initiatives in the third reading, meaning they were approved before coming into effect.
