Azerbaijan Medical University (AMU) is the leading medical university in the country. It is a state educational institution that trains doctors, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
History
Founded on May 9, 1930, based on the medical faculty of Baku State University.
In 1957, it was named after Nariman Narimanov.
Since 1991, it has held full university status.
Leadership
Since 2016, the rector has been Professor Garay Garaybayli.
Previously, from 1992 to 2016, it was headed by Akhliman Amiraslanov.The university has more than 1,200 faculty members and researchers, including academicians and doctors of science.
