  • AZLEKS is a project focused on creating bilingual and terminological dictionaries in Azerbaijani, Russian, and English. The project has an educational goal: to help users understand and use words correctly.

    History

    The project began in 2013 with the idea of publishing reliable dictionaries in both print and digital formats. The new AZLEKS website was launched in July 2016.

    Team

    The project is led by Dr. Rafik Ismailov, a philologist. Key team members include:

    Arif Aliyev, head of the “Yeni Nesil” association

    Elchin Shikhli, editor of Ayna Zerkalo newspaper

    Trilingual spelling dictionary (Azerbaijani, Russian, English)

    Dictionary of school-related word difficulties (1,600+ words with meanings and etymologies)

    Phraseological dictionary (6,845 idioms and expressions)

    Explanatory dictionary of the Azerbaijani language (approx. 30,000 words)

    The AZLEKS mobile app is also available on Google Play.

  • The main goal is to build a comprehensive electronic and printed database of dictionaries and terminology. The project collaborates with the publishing house Altun Kitab, which prints books based on AZLEKS materials

  • AZLEKS promotes accessible knowledge. All dictionaries are available for free, supporting education and the preservation of the Azerbaijani language.

  • Release of new dictionaries and expansion into more topics
