Bakcell is the first mobile network in Azerbaijan. The company supports GSM, 3G, 4G, and LTE technologies. It offers various plans for both individuals and businesses.
History: Bakcell was founded in March 1994 as a joint venture between GTIB and the Ministry of Communications of Azerbaijan. It was the first mobile operator in the country. The company was originally named “Bakcell Motorola.”

· eSIM: Eliminates the need for subscribers to purchase a physical plastic SIM card. Moreover, eSIM allows the use of multiple numbers even on smartphones that support only one physical SIM card.
VoLTE: Provides smartphone users with high-speed, clearer, and uninterrupted voice calls over the LTE network.

· Bakcell invests in the country’s economy. Over the past three years, the focus has been on mobile networks and expanding 4G, including in Karabakh. The company now has over 8,700 base stations. The network covers almost all of the population (99.9%) and most of the territory (92%).
Bakcell also supports startups and projects like AppLab, Baku ID’23, and ASAN Radio.

· In 2021, Bakcell's mobile network was once again recognized by Ookla® as the fastest network in Azerbaijan.
· October 2024 – Bakcell joins the UN Global Compact.
· May 3, 2025 – Bakcell received the award for “Most Successful Rebranding” at the Baku Flames International Festival of Creativity and Effectiveness.
