Baku Slavic University (BSU) — a state higher education institution in Baku, specializing in the teaching of Slavic and Germanic languages, as well as training professionals in international relations, linguistics, diplomacy, culture, and regional studies.
History:
Founded in 1946 on the basis of the pedagogical institute for teachers of Russian language and literature in the USSR.
Since 2000, it has operated under the name Baku Slavic University, receiving a new status and mission in training specialists for Eastern and Southern European countries.

Pedagogy (Russian language and literature).
Linguistics and teaching of foreign languages (Russian, English, French, German).
Translation studies (English, Russian, Greek, Bulgarian, Ukrainian, Polish, Czech).
International relations and regional studies.
Azerbaijani linguistics and journalism.
Research laboratories and centers: lexicographic center, translation issues, international cooperation, Azerbaijani studies, methodological journals, student theater, and others. -
BSU actively participates in the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) policy and promotes their implementation through educational programs and comprehensive reporting, including the annual academic report (e.g., the 2023–2024 academic year report).
The university also supports the development of scientific personnel and provides opportunities for youth through student societies, charitable work, and cultural and educational initiatives. -
BSU actively develops international partnerships: exchange programs have been signed with universities in Russia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Greece, Germany, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and Turkey.
In the 2023–2024 academic year, the university published a Comprehensive Report reflecting BSU’s contribution to sustainable development and academic progress within the framework of the SDGs.
