Bayil Fortress (near Bayil Cape) is an ancient defensive structure located near Bayil Cape. It was built of stone on the shore of the Caspian Sea in the 15th century. Over time, parts of the fortress became submerged as the sea level rose. Its purpose was to protect the coastline and defend the city from danger. Today, the remains of Bayil Fortress (near Bayil Cape) are preserved as an archaeological monument and are considered a historical heritage. This site is one of the important examples of Baku's historic defense systems.
