Catel (Baku) (Caspian American Telecommunications LLC) was the pioneering CDMA telecommunications carrier in Azerbaijan. Established to operate wireless local loop (WLL) systems, it provided cable-free landline numbers, facsimile, data transfer, and mobile cellular services across Baku, the Absheron peninsula, and provincial centers.
History:
Founding: Formed in 1997 as an Azerbaijani-American joint venture between the Ministry of Communications and US-based Omni Metromedia Caspian Ltd.
Operational trajectory: After deploying CDMA 2000 1x standards in 2004 and introducing the Fonex mobile brand in 2007, the operator suspended services following extensive technical failures in 2011.Team:

Prepaid solutions: Physical recharge scratch cards and customized billing tiers for residential and corporate users.
