Gavurqala Fortress is an ancient defensive structure located in the Qazakh district. This fortress is mainly dated to the 4th–2nd centuries BC. The fortress was built on the top of a mountain in a strategically convenient location. Gavurqala Fortress was used throughout history to protect the population from foreign invasions. There are stone walls, gates, and observation points there. The fortress is considered one of the important archaeological monuments for the history of Azerbaijan.
