Gulustan Fortress is a historic defensive structure located in the Goranboy district of Azerbaijan. The fortress was built approximately in the 9th–12th centuries and was primarily constructed for defensive purposes. Because it is situated in a mountainous area, it was in a favorable position to prevent enemy attacks. The fortress was once considered one of the main political and military centers and has witnessed many events. Today, Gulustan Fortress is one of the most important examples of Azerbaijan’s historical heritage.
