Gulustan Fortress (12th–17th centuries) is a historic defensive structure built during the 12th to 17th centuries. The fortress is located in a mountainous area of the Shamakhi district of Azerbaijan. It was mainly constructed to protect against enemy attacks and has played a strategic role throughout history. During different periods, it was used by royal and khan families. Some of the walls and towers of Gulustan Fortress (12th–17th centuries) have survived to this day. As an example of ancient architecture, the fortress also attracts the interest of tourists.
