Heydar Aliyev International Airport is the main airport of Azerbaijan. It is located in the Bina district, approximately 25 km from Baku, and is state-operated.
History
The first flights began in 1933.
The Baku–Moscow route was launched in 1937.
It received international status in 1990.
1997–1999: Terminal 2, a new runway, and a control center were built.
Since 2004, the airport has been named after Heydar Aliyev.
In 2014, Terminal 1 was opened
Team
The airport is operated by a government-owned company. The team includes operators, security, engineers, environmental services, and customer support staff.
The management has been recognized by Skytrax. -
Terminals 1 and 2 offer: check-in, shops, cafes, lounges, and business class zones.
Amenities include accessibility for people with disabilities, children’s areas, medical services, and charging stations.
The airport serves AZAL, Buta Airways, Lufthansa, Wizz Air, and other major carriers.
