Hirkan State Nature Reserve is located in the south of Azerbaijan, in the Lankaran region. This reserve was established in 1936 to protect rare and ancient forests. It mainly features forests of the Hirkan type, as well as rare plants such as ironwood and chestnut-leaved oak. Some animal species, for example, deer and storks, can be found in the reserve. Hirkan State Nature Reserve is among the nature reserves protected by the government. The reserve is of great importance for scientific research and the preservation of rare natural complexes.
