Hirkan National Park (40,358 ha) is a nature reserve covering an area of 40,358 hectares. The national park is located in the Lankaran and Astara districts and was established in 2004. The main purpose of the park is to protect rare plant and animal species. Rare trees such as the Hirkan forest, southern oak, and ironwood grow here. The climate is humid subtropical, and animals such as wolves, bears, and lynxes inhabit the park. Hirkan National Park (40,358 ha) is one of the areas where Azerbaijan's important natural heritage is preserved.
