Ilisu State Nature Reserve (17,381.6 ha) was established in 1987 and covers an area of 17,381.6 hectares. The reserve is located in the north-west of Azerbaijan, in the Qakh district. Its main purpose is to protect the natural complex, as well as rare animal and plant species. Animals such as the Caucasian deer and wildcat live here. The reserve also protects rare forest areas and clean water sources. Ilisu State Nature Reserve is also an interesting place for ecological tours.
