Mosque is a sacred place where Muslims worship. In various cities of Azerbaijan, there are mosques and they are an important part of public life. Most mosques are built with minarets beside them, and the call to prayer is given there. Some mosques are among the country’s oldest and most artistic monuments. Mosques are open to people for religious and social events. The minaret is a tower located next to the mosque and is usually used by the muezzin to call to prayer.
