A mosque is a sacred building constructed for people to worship together in Islam. Mosques are mainly used for performing prayers and holding religious events. Mosques usually have minarets, where the call to prayer (adhan) is announced to invite people to pray. In Azerbaijan, many mosques have historical and cultural significance. The architecture and interior design of mosques can vary; some are very simple, while others are richly decorated with patterns. Mosques are also used for community gatherings and religious education.
