Mosque is a sacred place where Muslims worship and gather. Usually, there are tall minarets next to mosques, from which the call to prayer is made. Friday prayers and other religious ceremonies are held in mosques. There are many historical and newly built mosques in Azerbaijan. Mosques function as religious centers and are important for Azerbaijani Muslims. Separate prayer areas are designated for women and men.
