A mosque is a religious building constructed for Muslims to perform worship. In mosques, people pray and conduct religious rituals. Often, mosques have minarets next to or above them; the call to prayer is made from these minarets. In Azerbaijan, mosques are known for both ancient and modern architectural styles. Mosques are also considered important venues for public and cultural life. They are mainly places where the community gathers and religious meetings are organized.
