A mosque is a religious building where Muslims worship. The main activities in mosques are performing prayers and holding religious gatherings. Most of them have minarets, from which the call to prayer is announced. Mosques are considered important social and religious centers for the community. There are many historical and modern mosques in Baku and other cities of Azerbaijan. Mosques are also used for religious education and charitable events.
