A mosque is a sacred place where Muslims worship. Mosques and minarets are considered examples of religious architecture and are primarily intended for worship. In Azerbaijan, mosques play an important role for Islam and are located at the center of the community. Some mosques have adjacent minarets, from which the call to prayer is announced. Mosques are among the main places for prayer, religious education, and public events for the community. Among the most famous mosques in Azerbaijan are Taza Pir, Bibiheybat, and Ganja Juma mosques.
