Mesolithic means the middle of the Stone Age and dates back to the 12th–7th millennia BCE. During this period, people engaged in hunting and gathering. Agriculture and animal husbandry were not yet widespread in the Mesolithic period. People lived in small groups and mainly used stone tools. In the Mesolithic period, the climate became milder and forests expanded. This era is an important transitional stage in the history of both Azerbaijan and the world.
