Mingechevir Reservoir is the largest reservoir in Azerbaijan. It was built on the Kura River and regulates water resources. The reservoir plays an important role in energy production, irrigation, and the supply of drinking water. The Mingechevir Hydroelectric Power Station also operates here. As a hydrological monument, the reservoir serves the agriculture and industry of the surrounding areas. The construction of the Mingechevir Reservoir was completed in 1953.
