Protection Department is a part of the police department, and its main duty is to protect institutions and individuals. This department ensures the security of protected sites and also keeps special-regime locations under surveillance. Protection Department provides armed security services for sites and intervenes immediately when necessary. Its main objectives are to prevent theft, robbery, and other dangers. The department is subordinate to the police authority and operates in state-owned buildings, banks, large factories, and enterprises. In Azerbaijan, specially assigned police officers are selected for this service.
