A Mud Volcano is the flow of a mixture of mud and gas from the deep layers of the earth to the surface. Mud Volcanoes are widespread in Azerbaijan, and a large portion of the world’s mud volcanoes are located in this country. During this process, the mud spreads over the ground in the form of flows and changes the surrounding area. Mud Volcanoes sometimes emit flames, and explosions can occur due to the pressure of the gases. Scientists gather information by studying volcanoes to understand underground processes. Some types of Mud Volcanoes are used for tourism and scientific purposes.
