A Pir is a sacred pilgrimage site in Azerbaijan. Pirs hold religious and spiritual significance among the people. People come here to pray, make wishes, and seek healing. Pirs are often graves or sites where holy persons with ancient histories are buried. Large ceremonies and religious rituals are sometimes held around certain pirs. One of the most famous pirs in Azerbaijan is considered to be the Bibi-Heybat Pir.
