Pir is a place of pilgrimage in Azerbaijan considered sacred by people. Religious figures or holy persons are usually buried there. People visit Pir to pray and make wishes. Visiting Pir is generally connected with religious and spiritual values. Some Pirs are located together with a small mosque or mausoleum nearby. There are many well-known Pir pilgrimage sites in Azerbaijan.
