Pir is a religious or sacred pilgrimage site. In Azerbaijan, places called Pir are locations where people pray and make wishes. Here, people usually pray for healing, sustenance, and the things they desire. Pirs are often associated with the name of a martyr, saint, or holy person. Visitors choose these sites for both their religious and cultural value. A Pir usually consists of a tree, a stone, or a tomb.
