Pir is a religious and cultural pilgrimage site and is very common in Azerbaijan. People come here to pray, make wishes, and commemorate persons considered sacred. Pirs usually date back to ancient times and various traditions are associated with them. Many people visit Pirs to seek healing from illness or to ask for their wishes to come true. Religious ceremonies and prayers are held in such places. The protection and maintenance of Pirs are usually organized by local residents.
