Qala (1675) is a historic defensive structure located on the outskirts of Baku. This fortress was built in a coastal area at a strategic point. It was constructed in the village of Qala and its purpose was to protect the area from attacks. The walls of the fortress are made of thick stone and it has semi-circular towers. The structure was used both as a defensive fortification and as a residence. Today, the Qala Historical-Ethnographic Reserve is also located in this area.
