Gala (12th century) is an ancient defensive structure located in the northeastern part of Baku. This fortress was built to protect the city from external threats. The walls of the fortress are made of solid stone and it has several entrance gates. Special areas were created here for warriors and guards. The fortress is historically significant both in terms of its construction techniques and architecture. It is now used as a tourist attraction and is open to visitors.
