An observatory is a place specially built for observing stars, planets, and other celestial bodies. The most famous observatory in Azerbaijan is the Shamakhy Astrophysical Observatory named after N. Tusi. This observatory was established in the Shamakhy region in 1959 and has various telescopes. At the observatory, scientists conduct space research and it is also used for educational purposes. Both local and international projects are carried out here. The Shamakhy Observatory plays an important role in the development of the science of astronomy in Azerbaijan.
