Shamkir State Nature Reserve (10,000 ha) is a temporary protected area covering 10,000 hectares. This reserve was established in 1968 with the main purpose of protecting its fauna and flora without harming nature. The area is mainly home to forest and mountain plants, as well as various animal species. Hunting and other activities that may harm nature are prohibited here. The reserve is important for improving the ecology of the Shamkir district.
