Shamkir Reservoir is a large reservoir located in the western part of the Republic of Azerbaijan. This reservoir was put into operation on the Shamkir River in 1982. The main purpose of the reservoir is to supply water for agriculture and to generate electricity. At the same time, it plays an important role in regulating the region’s water resources. Shamkir Reservoir also provides opportunities for fishing and water tourism.
