A Reservoir is an engineering structure built above or below ground for the storage of water. In Azerbaijan, reservoirs are mainly used for drinking water, irrigation, and electricity generation. There are large reservoirs such as Mingachevir, Shamkir, and Yenikand, which are included in the category of hydrological monuments. These facilities conserve water resources, prevent floods, and support agriculture. The management of reservoirs is carried out by the relevant state authorities. They hold strategic importance for the country.
