A reservoir is an artificial or natural structure built to collect and store large volumes of water. In Azerbaijan, reservoirs mainly provide water resources for drinking and agriculture. These types of hydrological structures are constructed on rivers and are sometimes used for electricity generation. Reservoirs help prevent floods and reduce water shortages during droughts. One of the most well-known reservoirs in Azerbaijan is the Mingachevir Reservoir.
