A Reservoir is a large artificially created water storage area used for various purposes. These facilities are mainly constructed for drinking water supply, irrigation, and industrial needs. In Azerbaijan, reservoirs are also used to reduce flood risk and for electricity generation. Reservoirs hold a significant position among hydrological monuments and help in the management of water resources. Their operation and maintenance are controlled by specific state or private companies. These facilities are of vital importance for the country’s water security.
