A Reservoir is a special facility built for the collection and storage of water. In Azerbaijan, reservoirs are mainly used for drinking water, irrigation, and electricity production. Reservoirs, which are considered hydrological monuments, play an important role in protecting the country's water resources. These facilities are usually created on rivers and lakes and supply water to large areas. Thanks to reservoirs, farmland and cities are provided with water even during times of drought. The most well-known reservoirs in Azerbaijan include Mingachevir and Shamkir.
