A reservoir is an infrastructure facility built to collect water resources and use them when needed. In Azerbaijan, many reservoirs are used in agriculture, drinking water supply, and the energy sector. These reservoirs sometimes have the status of Hydrological Monuments and are of great significance. One of the most famous reservoirs is the Mingachevir Reservoir. The operation and maintenance of reservoirs are carried out by state or municipal agencies. They also have a significant impact on environmental protection.
