A reservoir is a special structure built for the collection, storage, and use of water when needed. In Azerbaijan, some reservoirs are also recognized as hydrological monuments, and through this, the country's water resources are monitored. Reservoirs are mainly used for irrigation, drinking water supply, and electricity generation. They usually operate together with dams, water channels, and pipelines. The capacity and function of reservoirs vary depending on their location and size. Reservoirs are regularly inspected and cleaned during operation.
