Sumgala is a defensive fortress located in the territory of Azerbaijan. This fortress was built in ancient times for protection against danger. Sumgala was constructed from stone, and its remains still exist today. Its main purpose was to defend the village and roads. Archaeologists have discovered ancient artifacts during excavations carried out here. Sumgala is considered a significant monument from both historical and architectural perspectives.
