Tatlar is the name given to an ethnic group living in Azerbaijan. They are mainly settled in the Absheron Peninsula and some rural areas. Tatlar are distinguished by their language and cultural traditions. Tat village names in the country refer to villages inhabited by the Tat people. In these villages, the main occupations of the population are agriculture and animal husbandry. Tatlar have been recognized as the indigenous people of the region for many years.
