Zagatala State Nature Reserve (47,349 ha) was established in 1929 and covers an area of 47,349 hectares. The reserve is located in the north-west of Azerbaijan, in the Greater Caucasus Mountains. Rare species of animals and plants are protected here. The reserve mainly consists of forests, rivers, and mountainous areas. Its primary purpose is the protection of nature and the ecosystem. Visitors have opportunities to study and observe the natural environment.
