A Reservoir is a large structure built for the storage of water and its use when needed. In Azerbaijan, reservoirs are mainly used for drinking water, agriculture, and energy purposes. These reservoirs, which are classified as hydrological monuments, can be constructed either naturally or artificially. Large reservoirs play an important role in supplying water to surrounding regions and irrigating agricultural lands. Notable reservoirs include the Mingachevir and Yenikend reservoirs. Such structures are also used for water supply and flood prevention.
